Q: WHY NO GLASS BOTTLES ?
A: Our mineral-based antiseptic ingredient is a very stable molecule that is not sensitive to light due to its non-ionic state. This allows us to avoid using breakable glass bottles, yet retain superior potency. Ionic silver oxide (clear colloidal silver) degrades in light by oxidizing and agglomerating on the sides and bottom of the container, diminishing its effects significantly. OPTI•MIST, however, can be kept in a clear bottle in full daylight and remain stable and effective for years. Heat is never a problem for OPTI•MIST either - however it should always avoid freezing temperatures.

Q: WHY IS OPTI•MIST YELLOW ?
A: That's the Surface Plasmon Resonance effect on our colloids. It means the electron cloud around OPTI•MIST particles are interacting with light photons, absorbing blue light, making it appear yellow by leaving only green and red light visible to the eye = Yellow. For example, in mild concentrations, silver colloids will appear yellow whereas gold colloids will appear red. Color is greatly affected by the base material used and the size, shape and distribution of the colloid. Also, the colloid size to color relationship is well known and can be mathematically quantified by the Mies and Rayleigh scattering theory.
Q: WHAT HAPPENS TO THE COLLOIDS ONCE THEY'RE IN / ON MY BODY ?
A: Most will get blown out into a tissue, or washed off the skin. Silver that is swallowed is eliminated by the bowels. OPTI•MIST colloids are too big to be absorbed by healthy cells, or cross any blood/brain barriers, so they do their job, then get sloughed off and discarded. Nanoparticles in general are too large to pass though the healthy kidneys which limit the size to 8nm or less. Only a few make it to the bladder. Nanoparticles are filtered out of the blood by the liver, which has special cells called Kupfer cells that trap larger particles. These pass into the bile stream and are eliminated via the feces. This is the primary route for nanoparticle excretion. However, Clear colloidal silver (ionic silver oxide) can react with sulfur and selenium compounds in the body to produce non-soluble particles which are larger than ions and become immobile. True colloidal silver has very low reactivity with stomach acid, and does not create the compounds which are found in the skin of Argyria victims. Scanning electron microscope studies of Argyria victims show that the silver stuck in the skin is silver sulfide and silver selenide resulting from ionic silver. Q: GRANDMA'S 'COLLOIDAL SILVER' & OPTI•MIST, WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE ?
A: Any clear-as-water silver solution is most often Ionic Silver Oxide. ISO is primarily composed of individual (+)positively charged silver ions suspended temporarily in water - usually around 98% ionic, 2% colloidal. ISO is unstable and quickly oxidizes and should NOT be consumed internally. To slow oxidation it is bottled in either amber or cobalt glass. OPTI•MIST is around 98% colloidal, 2% ionic. This can be revealed visually by the Tyndall effect seen with ionic silver oxide, and the lack of it for OPTI•MIST. Although laboratory testing demonstrated that both ionic silver and metallic colloids indeed kill pathogens, metallic colloids did it much more effectively while requiring much less. ISO was also observed to be 25x more toxic to human fibroblast cells and responsible for the condition known as Argyria. Comparatively, it takes 68000 ionic particles to equal the efficacy of only 29 true colloids of ø15nm diameter. Differences also appear internally. Healthy human cell membranes transport ions into them and keep large particles out. OPTI•MIST colloids are too large to enter healthy cells, being about 100 times larger than a silver ion. Healthy cell membranes constantly attract and absorb the ions needed for metabolism, such as sulphur and selenium, so the majority of the silver ions in clear 'colloidal' silver will be captured by normal healthy cells, rendering them useless against pathogens.
